Indian single origin coffee, you’re probably asking yourself, what, Indian coffee, I thought they grew tea? Yes they do and they also grow great coffee.

Background

Our Indian single origin coffee comes from the the Ratnagiri estate which is situated in the majestic South West Indian – Western Ghats region near Bababudangiri.

The estate spreads over 117 hectares and was first purchased by Shivappalya Patre in 1927. He named it the Ratnagiri Estate which translates to ‘Pearl Mountain’. His inspiration for it’s name comes from the silver hue given off by the dense growth of silver oak trees in the mountain tops. Since then, three generations of the Patre family have dedicated their lives in pursuing their passion of growing India’s finest quality coffee. And that they have “we love it”.

This mountainous area is where it is said the first coffee was planted in India by Bababuda – a pilgrim from Yemen. This is why our Indian ‘Pearl Mountain’ single origin coffee tastes so good.

What does it taste like?

Such an easy question because it goes down easily. Our family’s expertise ensures we roast all our coffees into what we call the ‘Sweet Spot’. It’s where the magic happens transforming the coffees’ acidity into a well balanced and palatable coffee.

You’ll enjoy an interesting choc-malt flavour. It’s got great body and a herbaceous aroma with good depth of flavour.

With milk?

If you prefer your Indian ‘Pearl Mountain’ single origin coffee with milk then please do because we do too. I personally really enjoy the sweet malty flavour you get when you add milk.

Without milk?

Is it bitter if drunk black? Not at all all. In fact it’s a great coffee you can enjoy as an espresso due to it’s low acidity and great balance of flvaour. You don’t get any overly tangy acidic flavours.
