Kilimanjaro “African Rain” Coffee – Mocha Master Roasters

Kilimanjaro “African Rain” coffee, is our exciting new PROVENANCE offering.

A coffee lovers dream come true. Rich Tangy Choc flavoured coffee, a real stand out. You can taste the zest,  complexity and depth of flavour right through the milk. So once you sip your cappuccino you’ll say WOW! However, having it without milk unmasks the unique distinct flavour of our Kilimanjaro “African Rain” coffee. Orange/berry – like chocolate. A real treat!

Why we chose Mt Kilimanjaro coffee?

We chose Mount Kilimanjaro estate coffee not only for it’s vibrant flavour but also for it’s ethical farming practices.

The coffee cherries are washed in recycled water thus resulting in around 60% less water usage. A drip management irrigation system is used along with two dams for backup.

The estate spans over 595 hectares of enriched volcanic soil with roughly 1.2 million coffee trees.

Trees such as Azadirachta Indica or Leucaena are planted to naturally inhibit and combat the spread of pests.

Why our Kilimanjaro “African Rain” coffee tastes good?

The flavour is a result of all the care that is taken throughout the plantation. All the coffee is harvested manually thus employs more than 1500 local workers. More importantly they hand pick one spot eight times over. This level of care guarantees only the ripest cherries are picked. In addition the coffee is naturally sundried on raised drying beds. Homogenous drying is achieved by the constant raking and turning by the 100 plus staff members.

 

When we first roasted this coffee, we were amazed at how uniform the coffee beans were. Once we ground them, there was the “mmm” sound, by all of us. And we couldn’t wait to taste it.
